Once again we packed up a picnic lunch (I know it is October) on Sunday and took to the back roads and logging roads in search of some new places. We left home early in the morning and headed up Island to Duncan and then onto the back roads to Honeymoon Bay. Some beautiful Autumn scenes were along this road and we stopped to take some photos. Off again up to Gordon Bay on Lake Cowichen where we sat on the beach and ate our lunch. At first we were the only ones there but then a few more came and one was looking for wild mushrooms which he said were supposed to be found in the old growth of the forest. Not sure if he meant mushrooms to eat or magic mushrooms, lol. Proceeding back to Honeymoon Bay where the turn off was to go over to Port Renfrew. This is a logging road but the over the last few years they have improved the road from gravel to black top. Along this route there are a few little lakes and we stopped at Lizard Lake and went for a walk along the trail. So green and lush through there. From Port Renfrew it was about a 2 1/2 hour drive back home....arriving back just in time to make a quick dinner.
