Catching up.... from Vegas

I haven't had much time for the computer as we have been really busy doing things and having a good time.
Christmas Day we stayed mostly around Vegas and had some wonderful buffets. We had 3 of them in 2 days so we are eating way to much but everything is just so good.We did the strip on Christmas Eve ...from one end to the other. Definitely tired feet after that walk. We had our Christmas Day buffet at the Mirage because we had tickets ti see Terry fator. He was awesome. We laughed so much and we sure needed that.
Boxing Day we drove out to Death Valley National Park in California. It was a great day and we got back to Vegas pretty late.
Monday we drove down to Phoenix and on Tuesday we were going to do the Apache trail but after being on it for about an hour it was closed off due to the rains last week.We then decided to drive down to Tucson and then onto Tombestone...an old western town. Today we drove back to Vegas becuase the weather was starting to turn bad and we hit a lot of snow on the road but we are safely back in Vegas now.
I am not sure if I will be able to update again until we get home on Sunday as I am not sure if I will have the internet.
We are going to have a lot of fun here on New Years Eve....hope I survive doing this, lol.
In case I do not get on again I want to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous Year.

Merry Christmas from Las Vegas

We are in Las Vegas and having a great time. Two huge buffets today...and of course we walked the whole strip....oh those sore feet!

Tomorrow we will go for a bit of a hike to Red Rock Canyon and then come back for another buffet dinner and then we have tickets to see Terry Fator, the ventreloquist that won America has talent.

Early Christmas Brunch.

Today we went and had a wonderful Christmas Brunch at our daughters house along with our other daughter and 3 of our grandchildren. It was a nice spread of Baked French toast (which I made) bacon and lots of fruit.
Later this afternoon we had another gathering at our apartment building for some light refreshments and snacks. This was the first year that anyone has done this here but we now have new managers and they enjoy doing these things for the tenants. It was a few hours of laughter and everyone getting to know one another. We have been here for 11 years and it is amazing to realize how little you know your neighbors.

Oncology visit.

Yesterday we met with my oncologist to decide what to do about all the bone pains I am having from the Aromasin. They have been getting considerably worse lately and after 3 months of taking them we decided it is time to stop them for the time being. I am going to take a 3 week break from them and in January I will go back to see Dr. Hart and decide on the next step. He wants to see if all the bone pain is from the Aromasin or if there is something else going on with my body. I haven't been getting much sleep because it seems to be worse at night. Jean has also seen me wake up in tears and use a few not so nice words but then we know it is the pain that makes me do this. I was asked yesterday if I wanted some morphine but I will not take anything like that and I really do not like to even take a Tylenol 3. An Ibuprophen is more my speed even though it doesn't do anything for me. Eventually we will find the right pills to go on so that the cancer does not recur. The problem with taking these breaks is that it has not been proven whether it increase the chances of a recurrence. This will be the third time I have had a break because of the pain and changing medications. There are days I feel like I just want to say enough is enough but I know in my heart I can't do that.
Next week we leave for Vegas for the holidays and I know that this time I can't do as much as I would like to. I will have a good time though...that I am determined to do. I will make sure I get the rest I need. Jean needs this holiday as it has been really rough on him as well and we both need to try to forget about everything for a few weeks.
Okay...enough of this....
Today the weather is really cool but the sun is shining on Mount Baker from my window was in full view and it looked so nice with all the snow on it. The perfect time to get a picture of it.

Tis the season..

We had a wonderful visit with our son but of course it was way to short. He is back on the plane flying home. While he was here, he and our daughter knew we wanted to get tickets for the Elton John concert coming here in February and they decided they were going to get us the tickets for our Christmas present. Tickets went on sale this morning at 10am and was sold out within minutes BUT we were one of the fortunate ones that will get to go. There are so many disappointed people (especially around our age) that I feel really bad. I know there are many scalpers out there but when you are on a pension or limited income it just doesn't seem right that they are asking hundreds of dollars for a ticket.

Today I finally called my surgeon because all of my steri strips from my surgery must be super glued on as they haven't budged and it is almost 4 weeks since my surgery. So he finally said to soak them and peel them off very gently. Other than that life goes on. I still have problems with the meds but I see my oncologist next week and I think I will try the last AI (Lexatrole) and see if that is any better. It will also just be a trial otherwise I have some decisions to make.

This weekend will consist of some more Christmas shopping and then getting presents wrapped and ready to be mailed to my Mother.
